Due to no alternate source of earning, many people are struggling financially in the prevailing condition of COVID-19
Situations not always remain in our favor so one should not rely on single source of earning for survival in this world. Due to economic crisis of COVID-19, many people lost their jobs and unemployment increased. People who did not have any alternate source of earning had faced financial issues. Therefore it is now necessary for everyone to create Alternate source of earning.
Concept of multiple stream of income is not very common in our society. I figured out following reasons, by doing a survey by asking my friend circle through google form and whatsApp.
1) Parents pampered us till we complete our degrees and don’t encourage us to bear our educational and other day to day expenses by our own.
2) Educational institutes don’t encourage students for learning additional things other than what required for passing the degree.
3) We study to get degree only, not to learn new skills.
4) We, as a whole, want to enjoy our comfort zone and don’t put much efforts to earn more. Those having low income, label it as luck factor.
Following are the ways through which alternate source of income can be generated;
- By offering freelance services through Fiverr, up work and other freelancing websites. Some of the skills which one can learn for online earnings are Graphics designing, web development, video editing , etc… There are number of platforms available to learn such skills , one of them is Digi skill by Virtual University of Pakistan.
2) By doing part time jobs. Some of the options are proving tuitions, working at restaurants, working with Uber/ careem/ Bykea and food/parcel delivery services.
3) By investing in property, shares, and in other shariah compliance services.
To create awareness and encouragement for having alternate source of earnings following steps can be taken;
1) Government is already doing work through providing online learning courses and vocational trainings (with digiskills and Navtacc). HEC should bound to degree awarding institutes to link completion of degree with learning of any skill which is not related to the degree.
2) Universities should teach the students the ways of earning along with teaching them their degree courses. Websites which are working for this should be introduced to students in classes. Universities can bound the cafeterias working in the premise to hire students as part time workers, same goes for library management and research institution working under the management of University.
3) Parents should give free hand to their children to learn what they want and tell them to bear the educational expenses by their own.
4) Organizations should encourage part time workers and set policies which favor them.
As Mega project idea, I am thinking to make a plate form , either an application and/or social media page which will link the freelancers, tutors, students and organization which provide part time jobs and investment ideas at one place.
Through working on this assignment, I got to recall different work ideas which can definitely help me for creating my multiple stream of earning.
